The Kings County Museum is located in scenic Hampton, New Brunswick. We offer genealogy research, themed exhibits on local history, and heritage talks & workshops that will connect you to your historic past!

Genealogy research is $10 for a half day, $20 for a full day.

Job Opportunity - Museum Manager

The Kings Co. Museum has an opening for a Museum Manager.  If you love history, are very self-motivated, like to write, use your creativity, and know how to set goals and accomplish them, this could be a great job for you.  Our community museum has over 16,000 artifacts housed in two buildings, including the 100+ year old Kings Co. jail. This is a regular, year-round part-time position with flexible hours (15-20 hours per week), however, you must be available to work daytime hours.


·         Basic administration of the museum; answering email and phone inquiries, bank deposits, grant tracking.

·         Searching for grants applicable to the museum and working with the Board to write grant applications.

·         Designing exhibits.

·         Hiring and supervision of summer student staff.

·         Tracking grant spending.

·         Community outreach; pop-up museums.

·         Providing tours of the museum and jail to guests.

·         Regular social media updates.

·         Attend Association Heritage New Brunswick monthly zone meetings.

·         With help from the Board of Directors, write and submit grants for various programs.

·         Write end-of-exhibit grant reports.

·         Accession new artifacts and archival material and enter into computer database.

We Are Looking for Someone With:

·         Post-secondary education in Arts, Business, or related experience.

·         Minimum 3 years of experience in an administrative capacity.

·         Solid knowledge of MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

·         Comfortable using and learning new software systems.

·         Very organized and able to multi-task effectively.

·         Self-motivated; able to work independently, set priorities, meet deadlines, and stay in close touch with the Board of Directors.

·         Very strong English writing skills.

·         Comfortable speaking in front of groups.

·         A desire to continuously learn.

·         Previous experience working in a museum or archives is an asset.

·         Previous supervisory experience is an asset.
